Samsung’s flagship phone shipped with a screen problem. Not a minor calibration quirk — a visible red tint that users started noticing and complaining about shortly after the Galaxy S26 Ultra launched. That’s not a great look for a phone sitting at the top of Samsung’s lineup.
According to SamMobile, Samsung has now released a software update for the Galaxy S26 series in South Korea that carries the August 2026 security patch. And buried inside that update appears to be the fix for the red tint issue that’s been frustrating S26 Ultra owners for the past several weeks.
Samsung posted a notice in the Samsung Members app in South Korea confirming it would push a fix for the display problem today. Since the company rarely drops two separate updates for the same device on the same day, the August security patch update is almost certainly the one carrying the repair. It’s one package, one rollout, problem addressed.
To recap how we got here: last month, Galaxy S26 Ultra users flagged that their displays had developed a reddish cast. Samsung acknowledged the issue publicly and promised a software fix would arrive this month. Credit where it’s due — the company didn’t drag its feet or go quiet on the problem. But the fact that a display issue like this made it through quality control on an Ultra-tier device is worth raising an eyebrow over.
Display quality is one of the core reasons people pay premium prices for flagship phones. Samsung’s panels are generally among the best in the industry, which makes a red tint bug feel especially out of place. Competitors like Apple and Google have faced similar display controversies in the past, and the lesson is always the same: how fast and cleanly you fix it matters as much as the bug itself.
The update is currently going out in South Korea and should reach other regions within hours. If you’re an S26 Ultra owner who’s been sitting with a warm-looking display, keep an eye on your system settings. The fix should be on its way to you soon.
