Tecno POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini limited edition is the boldest phone of 2026

Slapping a luxury brand’s name on a phone is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Most of the time, it’s lazy marketing dressed up in a fancy box. So when Tecno announced a partnership with Tonino Lamborghini for a limited edition POVA 8 Pro 5G, my first instinct was skepticism. But this one is actually more interesting than that.

Tonino Lamborghini, the lifestyle brand founded in 1981 by Ferruccio Lamborghini’s son, is not the car company. It’s a separate brand built around luxury, individuality, and engineering-inspired design. And in this collaboration, it’s not just lending its logo. It’s contributing actual design direction, which makes a real difference in how this phone looks and feels.

A rear panel worth actually looking at

The phone comes in a black-and-red colorway that leans hard into automotive aesthetics. The back has a central Pulse Line running through it, meant to evoke energy and movement. Around it sits the Signature Shield pattern, pulled from Tonino Lamborghini’s shield identity and remixed with mechanical geometry. There are also nods to body lines, cooling grilles, honeycomb structures, and exhaust-inspired details. It’s a lot, but it’s intentional.

Tecno didn’t just print all of this onto a flat surface either. The rear cover uses two material layers. The first gets a brightness-enhancing treatment for depth and reflectivity. The second has internal mirror structures built in, so red accents shift and appear depending on how you angle the phone. There’s also a physical height difference between the layers that creates a genuine sense of depth. Tecno says this process took months of refinement across coatings, inks, and processing techniques. That’s not nothing.

The software actually matches the hardware

Too many limited editions stop at the physical design and call it a day. Tecno spent nearly four months building out custom software visuals for this one. The icon set uses black and red with a glass-like finish, and the rounded shapes you’d normally see are replaced with sharper hexagonal and shield-inspired geometry. Dynamic wallpapers and ringtones are also included.

The Alive Matrix Display gets a Tonino Lamborghini “L” effect that triggers on actions like powering on, unlocking, and general navigation. It’s a small touch, but it keeps the theme consistent across the experience instead of fading out once you get past the lock screen.

What’s in the box

  • Black-and-red braided charging cable
  • Customized charger
  • Protective case combining TPU and PC with precision carving inspired by Kevlar and carbon fiber

Who’s actually going to want this

This isn’t a phone for everyone, and it’s not trying to be. Automotive design fans, Tonino Lamborghini followers, and people who just want something that looks nothing like the sea of glass slabs everywhere else will find this genuinely appealing. The shifting red accents, the layered rear panel, the matching accessories. It all adds up to something cohesive.

But here’s the thing worth keeping in mind. A great design collaboration doesn’t automatically mean a great phone. Tecno hasn’t detailed pricing or full availability yet, and the underlying POVA 8 Pro 5G specs will determine whether this is worth buying as a daily driver or just as a collector’s piece. The design work is real and impressive. Whether the hardware backs it up is the question that still needs answering.
