OnePlus 16 hits AnTuTu with a monster score — and some interesting choices

Over 5.3 million points on AnTuTu. That’s not a typo. The OnePlus 16 just appeared on AnTuTu V12 before its official launch, and the score is genuinely impressive. But buried in the spec sheet is a decision that’s worth talking about.

According to Android Headlines, the OnePlus 16 showed up under the model identifier “PYB110” just hours after Qualcomm officially dropped two new flagship chips: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The timing is no coincidence. OnePlus is expected to debut this phone in China later this month or in early October, and this benchmark leak feels like a warm-up act.

So let’s talk numbers. The phone scored 5,384,433 overall on AnTuTu V12. Breaking that down: a CPU score of 1,458,283, a GPU score of 2,010,584, a memory score of 766,362, and a UX score of 1,149,204. Those are comfortably ahead of what last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 could pull off. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is clearly doing some heavy lifting here.

Now, the interesting part. The OnePlus 16 is listed with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. That storage is fast. But here’s the thing: Qualcomm’s new chip actually supports LPDDR6 memory, which is a step up. OnePlus is sticking with LPDDR5X instead. No official explanation yet, but the most likely reason is price control. Using older RAM keeps costs down, and OnePlus has historically been aggressive with its pricing in China and India. Still, on a phone powered by Qualcomm’s newest silicon, it feels like a missed opportunity for the spec sheet crowd.

Other confirmed details from the listing: the phone will ship with Android 17 out of the box, wrapped in ColorOS 17. OnePlus has already officially shown off the design, which comes in three colorways. One of those variants apparently has built-in LED lights, which we’ve seen in hands-on videos. Whether that’s a genuinely cool touch or just a gimmick depends on how well it’s executed, but it’s at least something different.

Here’s where things get a bit disappointing. The OnePlus 16 is not coming to the US or Europe. OnePlus has wound down its operations in those markets, so this one is expected to stay exclusive to China, with India being the other likely destination. That’s a real shame, because on pure specs, this thing looks like it would hold its own against anything Samsung or Google puts out.

The broader picture matters here. With two new Snapdragon 8 Elite chips now official, the next few weeks are going to be packed with flagship Android announcements. The OnePlus 16 is one of the first to show its hand, and benchmark leaks like this one tend to start a chain reaction. Expect more devices to surface soon. If you’re in a market where OnePlus still sells phones, this one is shaping up to be worth watching closely.
