Over 4GB. That’s how much data Samsung is asking you to download for the One UI 9 update now hitting Galaxy S26 phones in the US. So clear some space and maybe hop on Wi-Fi, because this one is worth grabbing.
Samsung has confirmed the Android 17-based One UI 9 rollout is live in the US, starting with T-Mobile. The relevant build numbers are S948USQU4BZID, S948UOYN4BZID, and S948USQU4BZID if you want to check manually. You can do that by going to Settings, then Software update, then Check for updates. That sometimes nudges the process along a little faster than just waiting.
The update first landed in Korea about a week ago, so the US getting it this quickly is a good sign for Samsung’s rollout pace. T-Mobile being first is pretty typical, and unlocked devices along with other carriers should follow within days. One UI 9 already debuted back in July on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 series. The S26 is the first non-foldable in line, which makes this a meaningful moment for the majority of Samsung’s customer base.

The bigger picture here is that Samsung is pushing One UI 9 across its whole lineup fast. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and the entire S25 series are expected to get it soon. The Galaxy S26 FE could also be closer than you’d think. If Samsung keeps this pace, it’s a strong signal that Android 17 adoption is moving quicker than past update cycles, which is good news for consumers who actually care about getting new software on time.
