To the best of my knowledge, the HTC Desire is not available in Canada as of yet. The best us Canucks are going to do is the HTC Legend (the second-coming of the HTC Hero) now available on Bell. The Bell HTC Legend is going for $79.95 on a 3-year term or $399.95 off contract. Not bad, but unfortunately Bell doesn’t service my region of the country (yes, I know… what gives!?) so I’m left waiting and praying for TELUS and/or Rogers to step up to the table with some sort of HTC goodness.
Thankfully, it looks like the Desire will be available on TELUS shortly. In a note I received from my good buds at MobileSyrup, it looks like TELUS staffers have received notification that training on the new Android-powered device is now available. I’m not sure if they make the training mandatory or not, but I would have to imagine all sales staff will eventually have to go through the ringer here.
A quick rundown of the Desire spec sheet goes a little something like this:
- Android 2.1 with HTC Sense UI (with new ‘leap’ feature)
- 1Ghz Snapdragon processor
- 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen
- 5 megapixel camera with LED flash
- WiFi
- 3G
- GPS
- microSD card slot
- 3.5mm headphone jack
In other news, you may have heard about the Desire taking the Samsung Galaxy S in a Quake 2 video test… or the fact that pricing has already been slashed to compete with the iPhone 4… Oh, and Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’ is coming to the Desire as well. Lots of HTC headlines these days!
Note: In case you missed it, you may want to check out Will’s hands-on with the HTC Desire. It’s chalked-full of pics and video to satisfy your desires. After you take a look-see, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments. It sure does look like the Nexus One, doesn’t it?
