Vaja cases? Yeah, they’re the bomb. I’ve long been a fan of Vaja, in fact, I have cases from them for my classic iPod, my old BlackBerry 8700, 8800, original iPhone, heck… they recently sent me a case for the iPad (yes, it’s awesome… and a review will be coming soon!). With that in mind, this morning I took a look through their new iPhone 4 case selection, and not only are their quite a few styles, but there’s quite a price range… which opens things up for folks on almost any budget.
The iPhone 4 case lineup is divided into 3 categories (at least, that’s how I’m categorizing them!). The first category is the flip-lid case. I’m not a big fan of these, especially for a touchscreen device. All of these cases have a flap that covers your display which, while great for protection… is a little hindering when it comes to using the actual device.
The first of these flip-lid cases is the ‘Black Series’ (pictured above). While closed it looks stunning, with it’s solid black finish and smooth red interior. It’s a sharp one for sure, and runs $80 a pop. The next offering is the iVolution Top SP. I have one of these for my original iPhone. Built to last, this flip-lid case features vaja’s typical racing stripe down the middle of the lid for a little added touch of ‘flare’. The price? $95. The iVolution Top is also available, and this one is basically the same as the SP, but there’s no racing stripe on the case. If you prefer the look of the case without the stripe, this one is for you. Removal of the stripe will save you $10, as this one hits the register at $85. Finally (for the flip-lid cases) comes the iVolution Stripes case. This is identical to the iVolution Top Sp and Top, but the coloring is different. Multiple stripes grace the case, giving it quite a unique look. This one is the most expensive of Vaja’s iPhone 4 case line, and comes in at $120.
Remaining in Vaja’s iPhone 4 case lineup are the two cases that I would consider for my own use. First, is the classic Retro Slim Bag. It is what you think it is… just a little bag/pouch that you can slide your iPhone in when not in use. Sure, there’s no flip-lid for access to the display, but in my mind, popping the WHOLE device out of the case for use is much more practical for me. I hate fiddling with the lid… and when you flip the lid back to take a call, the lid is always flapping around behind the phone… it’s awkward, and you kind of look like a fool. Just sayin’. The Retro Slim Bag is priced right at $55.
Finally, we have the iVolution Grip case. This one is a great marriage between protection and usability. The case basically ‘grips’ the outside of your iPhone 4, leaving the display and all ports available for use at any time. If you want one extra layer of protection while leaving the device ready for play at a moments notice, this is the one you want. You’ll need to throw down $65 for this one.
Before I go, I should note that most Vaja products are available for customization. Choose your own colors, heck, have initial inscribed on the case if you wish. You’ll pay more and wait longer for your case, but when you get it you’ll probably be thrilled.

Remember, if these cases simply aren’t for you… you can always get a bumper.
