Remember the Bell LG Rumour Plus? You know, the next-gen in the ‘Rumour’ line, with full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4″ display (240 x 320), 2 megapixel camera and more. That one. The last I heard, it was due out on the 11th of August. With the projected launch date right in front of us, and no launch and/or pricing details to speak of, I’m not caught off guard at all that we’re hitting a delay.
Thanks to a snapshot of an internal memo at Bell, it looks like some manufacturing issues have come up at LG. In fact, the exact wording goes a little something like this:
‘Due to manufacturing problems at LG’, the launch date has been pushed back.’
In fact, it has been pushed all the way back to August 27th. Boo-urns.
Not that I’m going to be waiting at Bell’s door itching to get my hands on the device, but I’m sure there are a few folks out there eagerly anticipating the launch. The LG Rumour Plus is (as I have mentioned before) a sizable step up from the original Rumour and Rumour 2. Fans of the line may want to get their hands on this one as soon as possible.
At the moment I still have no pricing information available, but stay tuned for more. Also keep in mind, when delays like this happen, I wouldn’t be surprised to see another delay. Especially when you consider this will NOT be a huge seller for Bell… they may deem it worthy of an additional delay or two to get things right. Time will tell.
I’m rambling. Stay tuned for more information on the Bell LG Rumour Plus as it becomes available. No doubt we’ll be privy to actual pricing and firm launch date information in the days and weeks ahead. Let’s all hope that LG can fix the troubles that have plagued them on this one.
