As sweet as Android 2.2 (Froyo) may be on your Sprint HTC EVO 4G right now, you may want to be cautious when entering precious information into your Calendar application, as an odd bug has been spotted.
Say you’ve made a calendar event with the time, place, and description information all filled out, and let’s say you needed to go back and re-edit the event. After editing the event, and you go to save it, the description will be replaced with the location information. After that, there’s no way to re-edit the event to fix the problem – you’re stuck. While this seems to be a minor bug in the OS, a bug is a bug, and we’re sure that HTC is scrambling to make a fix for this issue as fast as they can.
This may be very frustrating for those who use the Calendar application heavily, but many people who don’t use the app won’t even notice. If you lose the description, as shown in the bug, the only thing to do is just create another event. While it’s unfortunate, if the event description is lost, it’s lost, and you may as well create another event to get everything back into working order. This may be harder for those who have their calendar filled up, ad recalling a specific description of a particular event on an otherwise jam-packed day may be a little hard to recall.
When we said you can’t re-edit the event to fix what had been lost from the even on your phone, we can confirm if you go to Google Calendar on your computer and try to re-edit that event, then you can successfully make changes. This isn’t necessarily better than creating another event, but it’s just fewer steps if you’re near your computer.
Let’s hope that we see another quick OTA update for EVO users out there to get this bug addressed.
