Shortly after I published my brief look at the new Animal Planet iPhone app, the good folks at Discovery Communications came a knockin’ at my door again. This time around, they wanted to tell me about a game they’ve been running online for some time (it’s been on Discovery Kids online for almost 10 years now!)… and they’ve ported it to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Called WhizzBall!, this 3D puzzler is a lot of fun. Using a combo of springs and tubes, funnels and all sorts of fun props, it’s up to you to guide the ball to the final destination. As you can see from the screenshot below, this is a colorful, friendly and fun little game. Kind of reminds me of the classic ‘Mouse Trap’ board game… but for something more current, there’s shades of ‘Enigmo’ (or Enigmo 2) in here too.
If solving the puzzles ain’t your thing, you can build your own and share them with the WhizzBall! community. Online leaderboards are packed-in here as well. Other key features include:

- unlock new backgrounds as you go
- build an online profile to see how you rank
- track ratings on puzzles you create
- play puzzles created by the community
- challenge friends via Facebook and Twitter
