MySpace unveiled a music-video service that can be used on their website and on the iPad. The name of the game is MySpace Music Romeo and it’s made to help users find new artists and songs by selecting videos based on mood and genre. Once you find what you like, you can stream the song for free or buy it from Apple’s iTunes store.
The new service comes on the heels of the recent redesign of MySpace’s users homepages, now featuring a standardized look and simpler design with scrolling remarks from friends, photos and updates from blogs.
My two cents: These days MySpace is all about music and in that sense I applaud their latest move. Let’s face it – they can’t compete with Facebook any more. However, when it comes to young and not that famous artists, it’s the place to be and that’s where they should focus their attention to. I would expect them to release more apps and services in the near future to cement their “music position” in the market…
