Costco selling T-Mobile G2 to upgraders

T-Mobile G2 on sale at Costo

Hot on the heels of Radio Shack’s release of the T-Mobile G2, Costco has begun selling the new Android handset online. However, there’s a catch: the handset is only available for customers who qualify for an upgrade, so buying the device outright or using flex pay is not allowed.

We initially though that Costco would follow Radio Shack’s lead and sell the G2 for $149, but it looks like the G2 from Costco will sport the standard $199 price tag you’d find at T-Mobile. So why go to Costco over T-Mobile? Apparently Costco is offering upgrade-eligible T-Mobile customers a free accessory kit with a G2 purchase. The accessory kit comes with a hands-free ear bud, case, car charger, and a Bluetooth headset. Who knows how good the accessories actually are, but free is free, right?’

If you’re a Costco member and are eligible for an upgrade on Magenta, you might as well grab it from them for the accessories. If you’re not yet a Costco member, don’t pay the membership fee just for the phone. I mean, come on, that just doesn’t make sense. And no, since this is an upgrade-only sort of deal, you won’t be able to buy these things in bulk. If you’re still on the fence about a potential G2 purchase, wait out a bit and see what the reviews have to say.

Whatever the reason you are holding on picking up one of these powerful Android smartphones, you’ll soon have quite a few outlets to get the thing in your hands. As of now, Radio Shack is still the way to go since you’ll be paying $50 less than anywhere else.

I must say, after having the G2 for about four days now, I’m very impressed and happy with the device.
