We’ve just heard word that the Facebook app has been downloaded more than 100 million times from GetJar and this marks an important milestone for both companies.

For GetJar, this just shows how much it is growing, as the company just had 50 million Facebook app downloads a few month ago. By many accounts, GetJar is the second-largest app store in the world behind the App Store juggernaut.

GetJar, an independent app store for a variety of platforms, continues to push forward and grow. The company has already seen more than 1 billion downloads and those numbers should only increase as more and more users turn to smartphones.

GetJar is also striking high-profile deals with Yahoo and Sprint to help grow its brand awareness. Sprint users can have access to its app catalog and users on compatible devices can get right to the app they want when they search with Yahoo.

As for Facebook, this is just another sign that there is strong demand for its services on the go. The world’s largest social network has over 200 million and it is well on its way to ultimately becoming a mobile platform.

The company recently made a few seemingly minor tweaks to its mobile ecosystem but these could have major impacts down the road. It has implemented a single sign-on and this could make it easier for users to dive into new apps and programs without having to sign up for a new service.

Additionally, the company gave its Facebook Places service a boost, as third-party developers now have full read and write APIs. This move, along with the location-based deal, could help these types of geo-centric services take off with the mainstream audiences.

So, the relationship seems to be mutually beneficial for GetJar and Facebook. Anyone want to guess when it will crack 200 million?
