Sprint is gradually making its WiMax network available in more areas this year, and it looks like Denver, Colorado is next on the list. After successful and recent launches in New York City and Los Angeles, the folks of Denver have quite a bit to look forward to. Of course, we all know that these launches don’t mean that everything lights up at once on the day it’s scheduled to go live, so residents of Denver may see spots of coverage starting today.
This might also raise more questions for resident of that other big tech city, San Francisco. It seems everyone else is getting the 4G treatment except for the Bay Area, but be patient! WiMax is scheduled to officially go live for residents of the City by the Bay on December 28. And like Denver, Los Angeles and New York City before it, patches of coverage should be available in most places before the actual launch date.
For those of you already receiving WiMax coverage on devices that support the network like the HTC EVO 4G or Overdrive mobile hotspot, how are you liking it so far? Verizon recently came out of the gates with LTE in 39 cities, and most tests so far show very impressive speeds (although that will change once more users are on the network). Sprint definitely had the advantage in being first and hitting the market early, but will it pay off against Verizon’s LTE network and AT&T’s own LTE efforts next year?
Feel free to share your thoughts and experience on Sprint’s 4G network so far.
