Mpowerplayer has announced that it has surpassed a milestone of 12 million mobile game demos, played by over one million consumers. Users have embraced Mpowerplayer’s PC-based try and buy storefront solution.
As the PR goes on to say:
“We’ve brought the iTunes approach to mobile gaming,” said CEO Michael Powers. “Now everyone can easily find and try mobile games right from the comfort of their PC.”
The Mpowerplayer idea is that consumers browse and play the mobile game on their PC before purchasing it. Users can also share their favourite picks, introducing a social networking element also.
If you want to take a closer look, you can do so here. I checked out the solution, and it basically starts up the Java engine (if you have it installed) on your PC – once that’s done, you can play an emulation of the various games – I came away reasonably impressed. Certainly if I wanted to see a game running before I bought it, this would be a good way to do it…..
