Nexus S running Android 2.4 OS? Is it fake?

Despite the bumps along the road that the Nexus S has received since it’s release, we know Samsung and Google worked closely together to bring a great Android experience to the Nexus S. It was was the first device to debut with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and it seems that the  handset is already running Android 2.4 OS. Unless, that is, it’s a fake?

We’re all too aware that the OS version number of most Android devices can be altered by editing a simple file within the system files. From the short video below, we don’t really see anything that’s drastically different from Gingerbread. If what we’re seeing is truly Android 2.4, then I’d have a hard time believing that it has its own version name. If anything, the video could be showing off some extra features  that were sprinkled throughout the OS but didn’t make the cut for Gingerbread.

We know that the Sony Ericsson Arc has been spotted with 2.4. An update like this could bring some small back-end tweaks, and possibly some more eye candy. Needless to say, we’d like to get a more in-depth look at the Android OS build in the video for more analysis (if it’s indeed real).

If this is fake, it’s not anything we haven’t seen before. We saw the Nexus One running Android 3.0 months ago, only to have Gingerbread turn out to be Android 2.3. I think people are putting more faith in this particular rumor  since there’s a video involved, which incidentally shows us nothing new. Hopefully another video may pop up soon, proving that 2.4 is real, and while it may not be Ice Cream Sandwich, it will bring some things to the tablet that you won’t find in Gingerbread.

So what do you think, dear reader? Is this a new version of Android, or someone with too much time on their hands?

Video below.
