Samsung Galaxy S getting Android 2.2.1 update as we speak!

Before you go “finally” I must disappoint you. The Android 2.2.1 update we’re talking about here doesn’t affect Galaxy S versions that are sold in the U.S. In other words, it is not available for those of you with the Samsung Fascinate, Vibrant, Captivate or Epic 4G. Unfortunately, some of you will still have to wait for another week or two.

Initially Galaxy S owners needed to have Samsung Kies software installed on their PCs, but soon afterwards the Korean company allowed for over-the-air update, as well.

It is said that Android 2.2.1 will take care of few bugs and security glitches, overall making the device more stable. Furthermore, some users have also reported their devices run faster after the update.

So what can I say? If you own the Samsung Galaxy S make sure to update it like right away. Before proceeding, however, it is advised that you backup all your data just in case something goes wrong. Good luck! 😉
