rdio for iPhone

On-demand social music service Rdio, which comes from the founders of Skype, released an updated iPhone app that feels like it’s has been revamped from the ground up.

The first thing you’ll notice is a brand new user interface, which organizes all of the app’s features in a “springboard” dashboard, eliminating the tabs along the bottom of the screen. Moreover, this dashboard can be easily customized in a same way as you would organize apps on your iPhone – simply tap and hold icons to rearrange them. Additionally, thanks to the always-visible search bar at the top of the screen, you can quickly find a song from the music catalogue.

Additionally updated Rdio iPhone app includes:

  • One-touch access to new releases, top charts and recommended music from where you can learn about new music from this week, last week or 2 weeks ago. Top albums, songs and playlists, as well as a visual collection of album recommendations based upon the music you’ve previously played are all there.
  • New persistent player at the bottom of the screen that moves with you no matter where you are within the Rdio app. At a glance, you’ll see what’s playing and “act on it” by accessing player controls.
  • Enhanced “deeper” search now goes beyond artists, albums and songs, to include results for playlists and people, too.
  • Finally, you can fine-tune syncing options and set syncing over Wi-Fi or 3G, Wi-Fi only or never. And thanks to a new way to filter your Collection and Playlist, you can see what you have synced to your device without going into offline mode.

Rdio for iPhone is available as a free download. After a 7-day free trial, Rdio Unlimited (web, desktop, mobile, Sonos) costs $9.99 and Rdio Web – $4.99.
