White Nexus S with AT&T 3G bands now available at Negri Electronics

If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a Nexus S that supports AT&T 3G bands, then you’ll be happy to hear that you can purchase the white version of the handset right now from Negri Electronics. It may not be the Sprint Nexus S 4G, but you won’t find the white version of this handset anywhere else in the country.

We’ve spotted the white version of the Nexus S before, but it was never announced for the US. The handset is likely just the unlocked Canadian version that just so happens to support AT&T’s 3G bands, but there’re probably very few complaints about its availability. While it’s great handset, the second-generation Nexus handset is nowhere near the likes of the upcoming competition, and may be completely overlooked.

The white Nexus S provides some nice contrast to the curvy handset, and certainly sticks out more than the original. The handset will run you a bit more than the off-contract Nexus S you’ll find at Best Buy, but having a white version of the handset that runs something other than EDGE on AT&T may justify the price for you. That said, if you’re looking for a new Android smartphone for AT&T, you may want to look at the Atrix 4G, or the upcoming Thrill 4G to get a little more bang for your buck.

The Nexus S sports the single-core 1Ghz Hummingbird processor, which won’t slow you down, but we’re now approaching the summer of dual-core phones, so you may suffer from a bit of buyer’s remorse just a few months after you nab the thing. But since this is a Nexus device, you’ll always have the latest and greatest version of Android for phones. We’re not sure if the handset has Android 2.3.3 pre-installed, but it’s easy enough to update yourself.
