Some of you thought this day wouldn’t come but AT&T Windows Phone 7 users will be happy to know that the NoDo update should be rolling out as we speak with copy-and-paste, faster app switching and more.
For those of you not following the brouhaha, the Windows Phone 7 NoDo update was actually briefly shown off when the platform launched and it included copy and paste and other features. Many were expecting an early 2011 launch but this dragged on and on and on.
Customers around the globe and on T-Mobile USA have been enjoying NoDo for a while but AT&T customers have been left in the lurch until now. Now, the HTC Surround, Samsung Focus and the LG Quantum should be able to get the update via an over-the-air alert. If you’re not seeing it, connect your phone to the Zune software and it should be available.
Even as Windows Phone 7 NoDo is just trickling out to AT&T users, we’re already looking forward to the next version, which is being code-named “Mango.” We’ve seen this before and this promises to bring true third-party multitasking, Internet Explorer 9, Twitter integration, better SkyDrive support and more to these handsets.
Of course, after the fiasco that was the NoDo update, do any of you have faith that the Mango update will be out in a timely manner. Microsoft is shooting for a Fall 2011 release but I wouldn’t be surprised if carrier nagging, as well as software bugs kept this until 2012. I sincerely hope I’m wrong, as this looks like a great boost for the platform that could put it on par with rivals iOS and Android (I guess you can throw BlackBerry and webOS in that mix too).
Have you received your NoDo update yet? Let us know how the process was and if this was worth the hassle.
