Droid Incredible and Casio Commando

Today is the day that Verizon adds not one, but two new Android handsets to its smartphone lineup. Making their official retail debut is the HTC Droid Incredible 2 and the Casio G’zOne Commando. Both Android handsets feature 3G EVDO connectivity and run Android 2.2. The Droid Incredible 2 has a slight leg up on the Commando with a feature set that is a modest upgrade from its predecessor the original Droid Incredible. The incredible 2 includes:

  • 4-inch WVGA TFT display
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor
  • CDMA, EV-DO, and Global GSM connectivity
  • 1 GB internal storage
  • 768 MB of RAM
  • Rear 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • Front-facing 1.3MP camera for video calling
  • 720p video recording
  • DLNA
  • SRS WOW HD surround sound
  • Automatic face detection for more accurate pictures
  • Integrated noise-cancellation technology
  • Rotating capacitive buttons
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • 1450 mAh battery
  • micro-USB
  • Android 2.2 with Sense UI

The Commando has the rugged good looks that characterized the previous G’zOne models. The Commando is the first model in the series to include a smartphone mobile OS. The Commando included the following features:

  • Military Standards 810G for Immersion, Rain, Shock and Dust Resistant, Vibration, Salt Fog, Humidity, Solar Radiation, Altitude, Low and High Temperature Storage
  • 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus, still photo,video capture, LED light
  • High-security encryption for corporate email
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity
  • Stereo Bluetooth
  • VZ Navigator for GPS with voice turn-by-turn directions
  • Mobile Hotspot capable-share 3G connection with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices
  • eight modes of operation including Earth Compass, Walking Counter, AdventureTraining, Trip Memory, Tides, Thermometer, Sun / Moon and Star Gazer
  • Android 2.2

The Casio G’zOne Commando is now available online starting April 28 and will set you back $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement. The Droid Incredible will be available beginning April 28 in both Verizon Wireless stores and online for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement. Both handsets are available at full retail for and $449 and $439 respectively.
