China-only Nokia T7 gets FCC’s seal of approval

Nokia T7, which we described as the N8 for the Chinese market, has been approved by the FCC. In other words, it’s ready to be sold on the U.S. soil even though that ain’t gonna happen, like ever. The reason is simple – we’re talking about a TD-SCDMA-based device which is made to work with China Mobile’s 3G network. Sure some Chinese business people could use it when travelling to the U.S. but I don’t think that kind of a phone use requires FCC’s seal of approval.

Anyway, the T7 is a Symbian^3 smartphone with an 8-megapixel camera (the N8’s camera counts 12 megapixels), nHD (360×640 pixels) touchscreen and no HDMI out (whereas the original N8 has one).

We still have no idea when Nokia will officially launch the T7 but considering the hardware and software seem pretty much ready, we assume they’re waiting for China Mobile to give it a “Go.”
