Like any other airline, Delta wants its piece of the iPad media attention, as well. They decided to dump the paper version of the so called “Electronic Flight Bags” (EFBs) and replace them with an iPad and accompanying app that does the same job. If you remember, Alaska Airlines also tested this” trick,” using the same GoodReader and a ton of PDF files, representing airplane manuals.
Moreover, the iPads Delta pilots will use also come with additional flight itinerary and pertinent information, along with all other tools pilots could find useful. Presuming there will be an in-flight Wi-Fi connection, the Delta crew will even be able to communicate with their staff on the ground, getting up to date information on weather conditions and other relevant information.
We like the idea of replacing the paper with its digital equivalent and are always willing to give such efforts some space on IntoMobile… Hope you like that, too. 😉
