Samsung never seems to stop making new devices, and some upcoming devices have been discovered, in name form, within the recently released Unpacked application in the Android Market. We’ve been expecting two of these devices already, the Wave 3 and the Galaxy Tab 7.7, but we’re at a loss as to what the Samsung Note could be.
Essentially a ZIP file with a renamed extension, APK files are easy enough to dig through, given you know what to look for. The only findings of worth are the three logos for these upcoming devices, and we have little else to go on.
We’ve been expecting a 7 inch Galaxy Tab refresh for some time now but we weren’t expecting it to gain a little over half an inch of screen real estate. If we’re lucky the Tab 7.7 will feature a Super AMOLED display and that alone may be worth giving the thing a look. If this is indeed the rumored Tab, then the 7.7 may not ship with Android 3.x Honeycomb but Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Then again, because it’s a rumor, we could still have a Honeycomb tablet on our hands but we’ll have to wait and see.
The Wave 3 also doesn’t come as a surprise, as it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of the handset. The Bada-based handset has historically done rather well, so it would only make sense to see another, beefier successor to come down the pipe.
This leaves us with the Samsung Note, which really has us scratching our heads. When I hear the name, It reminds me of a small tablet, which doesn’t seem to line up, especially with the Tab 7.7 already making an appearance. Who knows, the Note could even be a notebook from Sammy. Again, we’ll have to wait and see.
