What we have here is the first Symbian-branded device. And it’s coming from no one else than Samsung. So far, we haven’t seen any Symbian-powered device wearing the Symbian badge, and in that sense this is something new.
Samsung SGH-i400 is a non-3G mid-range device, runs S60 on top of Symbian OS, and among other things boast a 2.3″ screen, a 2 MP camera, A2DP Bluetooth support, dedicated MP3 key, stereo speakers, as well as the microSD expansion slot. Apparently this device is made for Russia and “other European countries” and is hitting markets somewhere in July this year.
It’s good to see Samsung commiting to Symbian with more than a single device. This should get additional heat on the smartphone market. (via: Engadget)
