Microsoft is expanding the reach of the Windows Phone Marketplace by opening app submissions in 6 more countries, including China, Argentina, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru and the Philippines.
At the moment, the Redmond giant is accepting apps from global publishers with the idea to open up local app stores with some actual content. Local publishers on their end will be able to join at a later date.
For some places — like China, Malaysia and Indonesia — developers have to take special care their apps are not offending in any way. For instance, apps sold in these markets cannot included content that has:
- People in revealing clothing or in sexually suggestive poses
- Religious references
- Alcohol references
- Sexual or bathroom humor
- Simulated or actual gambling
Violating these rules could lead to an app ending up not accepting in the local market, so if you want to expand the reach of your app, you better be careful… You can get few additional details from the Windows Team Blog here.
