It’s the iPad HD, not the iPad 3 and it’s going on sale March 16th

Apple’s new tablet won’t be called iPad 3 after all, but instead, the iPad HD according to VentureBeat. The tech site got the drop on the name change from a “reliable source,” that claims the Cupertino-based company plan to make a huge effaces on its rumored high-resolution display running at 2,048 by 1,536 pixels. If true, this new feature will make the iPad HD the only tablet (released) to support 1080p high-definition at its full resolution (1,920 by 1,080).

Growing rumors of what features to expect on the new iPad have been rapid, from including a pressure sensitive stylus, down to what kind of smart cover the tablet will launch with. Hell, we’ve even come up with three of our own predictions. With all that said, what everyone seems to universally agree on is the new iPad will sport a high-definition display, along with an improved dual-core A5 processor. The Cupertino-based tech giant is said to be planning a launch of its latest slate at a big Apple Store event which will culminate on Friday, March 16th.

Like we always say on here, please take all rumors with a grain of salt until the company confirms anything. Lucky for us, we don’t have to wait that long, as Apple makes its official announcement tomorrow, so we’ll see if the iPad HD moniker is true or not.
