Today LG announced that the Optimus 3D Max will launch in Europe. Bad news is, the glasses-less 3D handset will not be headed to folks over in the UK. We’ve known about the Optimus 3D Max for some time now, as we went hands on with the device at this year’s Mobile World Congress but this would be the first time we got some firm roll-out locations.
The Optimus 3D Max will rock a 4.3-inch WVGA glasses-free 3D display, plus Gorilla Glass 2. Other specs include a dual-core 1.2Ghz OMAP4430 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, two stereoscopic 5 megapixel cameras, 1,520mAh battery, and come in at a mere 9.6mm thick. Unfortunately, the 3D Max will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but will likely see the Ice Cream Sandwich update later on.
Users can expect a customized software user interface on the phone to fully take advantage of glasses-less 3D. The 3D Max has a converter that takes 2D content from apps like Google Earth and Maps and morphs them into 3D. Furthermore, you’ll get to edit your video footage in 3D. Not bad, right?
On top of all the 3D treats you’ll get NFC support and the ability to push video content by way of MHL HDMI, or wirelessly through DLNA, at resolutions up to 1080p. This extends to the phone’s 3D features as well. That being said, we’re not sure if this phone will see the light of day in the United States.
