Twitter updated their user interface late last year, and many people, myself included, hated it. They then updated their mobile apps to look like their new website. I hated the new iPhone app so much that I spent $0.99 to buy Tweetbot from Tapbots and have never looked back. Anyway, this new user interface hasn’t been accessible to people who depend on Twitter’s mobile website. This is now no longer the case. Twitter has just announced that anyone who visits mobile.twitter.com will be greeted with a new UI that resembles Twitter’s desktop website. If you’re on a feature phone, then you should be happy. If you’re on a smartphone however, then this news doesn’t affect you at all. What I want to know though is what Twitter application do you use on a daily basis?

Like I said earlier, Tweetbot is my favorite app on the iPhone, but some people swear by Twittelator. On Android I’ve seen many folks using Plume, but I don’t have any experience with it myself, so I can’t comment. If you’re on Windows Phone, do you rely on the built-in Twitter integration or do you go out of your way to install a third party client? Several Lumia owners I know think Carbon is the best thing since sliced bread. I tried it back when I had a Lumia 800, but I didn’t like it too much. Now there’s a new version out, and I hear a lot of things have changed, but I no longer have a Windows Phone in my possession. If you’re on a BlackBerry … you poor thing.
If you haven’t yet jumped onboard the Twitter bandwagon, then what are you waiting for? It’s the best of RSS and email combined. I like to think of it as a really slow chatroom where I get to moderate which people are in the room. Should Apple, Facebook, Google, and Nokia fail to exist in five years, I couldn’t care less.
Twitter though, <3.
