RIM patents angled keyboard for quicker, more accurate typing

RIM has just been granted a patent filed in 2009 that is sure to make “V for Vendetta” fans squeal with delight. RIM’s patent is for an angled keyboard that features trapezoidal keys as opposed to the customary squarish shape featured on most of RIM’s smartphones. The new keyboard layout would give users a higher chance of hitting the right key, and each key will have a slightly larger surface area than its predecessors. The result looks like a bunch of V’s on top of each other.

The keyboard patent joins several other RIM patents that we’d like to see implemented into future BlackBerry 10 devices, such as fuel-cell recharging, automatic volume adjustment, and a sleek desk dock that turns your BlackBerry into a regular desk phone look-a-like. Here’s hoping RIM’s innovation department is hard at work bringing us the BlackBerry of the future.
