Augmented reality experts at Layar launched a new app and platform – Stiktu, allowing users to “remix the real world.” Available as a free download from the Apple AppStore and Google Play, it lets users add their own drawings, text, images and stickers to magazines, posters and more by simply scanning them with a smartphone. Once created, these creations can then be viewed by other users who scan the same item. Moreover, thanks to the built-in social element, users can connect by discovering, liking, sharing and commenting on interesting posts.
Layar’s new service was inspired by street art and other artistic and creative subcultures with the goal to enable users to express themselves and view the creations of others.
Prior to the official launch, Stiktu was released to a select group of European countries, providing the opportunity to gather user feedback about the features and usage of the application.
