Like we already don’t have enough chat apps and services, handset makers (Samsung) and now mobile operators are joining the game. After the iPhone app, Telefonica launched an Android version of its chat client – TU Me. Similarly to other such apps, this one also provides users with free calls and texts between TU Me users. Moreover, there’s timeline conversation support, ability to automatically find online contacts, search for conversations, share photos and maps.
Now if Telefonica starts preloading the app on all phones its sells across a number of countries, TU Me could quickly become one of the leading chat apps out there. And given the fact that the Spanish company has operations in multiple European countries (using O2 and Movistar brands) as well as Latin America, it could reach millions of users in just a few months. Then again, I’m not sure what they want to accomplish with it, but that’s another story…
