Judge upholds U.S. ban on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales

After Apple won a court case that led to the ban of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the United States, the judge has denied Samsung’s request to lift it. The ban hereby remains in effect in America until further notice.

The lawsuit, which Apple filed last year, claimed that Samsung’s flagship tablet copied the iPad in a number of ways. The most notable similarity immediately apparent to consumers is its design. “This kind of blatant copying is wrong and, as we’ve said many times before, we need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas,” a spokeswoman for Apple commented. Apple quickly paid the $2.6 million bond necessary to prevent its enemy from successfully appealing the ban.

“Samsung is disappointed with the court’s decision that denied our motion to stay. We believe today’s ruling will ultimately reduce the availability of superior technological features to consumers in the United States,” Samsung said in response to the judge’s denial to lift the Galaxy Tab 10.1 ban.

Apple also won a recent preliminary injunction against Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone this past weekend, resulting in an immediate sales halt of the handset in the United States as well. First the Galaxy Tab 10.1, next the Galaxy Nexus, and now Apple apparently has its eyes on the Samsung Galaxy S III. The war between the two technology giants has been ongoing for a couple of years now and spans nearly ten different countries. It doesn’t look like it’s ending any time soon and I’m sure we haven’t heard the last from Samsung, either.
