The next-generation LG Spectrum is imminent. There’s been render leaks and FCC certifications and now the Spectrum 2 has been spotted in the Verizon Wireless Cellebrite system.
The Spectrum 2 will have a generous 4.7-inch IPS display on the front with 1280×720 pixel resolution, an 8MP camera on the back, and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM on the inside. The specs haven’t changed all that much from the previous generation, but that’s because the original LG Spectrum didn’t come out very long ago. Blake Stimac gave it a 7 out of 10 rating, so if all the stars align, the Spectrum 2 should score at least on par with if not above the Spectrum that came before it.
For the bad news, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean isn’t likely to ship on the upcoming handset. Rather, it’ll probably come preloaded with the familiar, but now outdated frozen dairy treat, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
As a side note for those of you asking “What the hell is Cellebrite?” in your head, it’s the system Verizon uses to transfer all content from one phone to another such as photos, videos, ringtones, text messages, and contacts. The fact that the Spectrum 2 is showing up in it means the carrier is making final preparations before releasing the device.
