The iPad app is obviously “working” for The New Yorker since they decided to extend the reach and go for the iPhone users. Similarly to the version made for Apple’s tablet, this one is also free to download and comes with a complementary issue of the magazine. Once you’re done with reading the free issue, you can either subscribe on a monthly ($5.99) or yearly ($59.99) basis, or get separate issues when you fancy so. If you are, however, subscribed to the printed version of the magazine, you’ll get to access the mobile version free of charge.

Feature wise, you’ll be able to read all of the articles and check out images, audio and video content from your iPhone, including the weekly slide show of all the current issue’s cartoons, plus five archival bonus cartoons per issue. Moreover, iPhone users also get a video introduction to The New Yorker app, featuring Lena Dunham and Jon Hamm.

Sharing comes included and so do links to updated web content, for perspectives on the news of the day…
