In a move to perhaps sway the momentum away from both Amazon and Google, Barnes and Noble has decided to slash prices on three of its 7-inch Nook tablets. We first received signs of price reductions to the Nook brand of tablets a few days ago, when LogicBuy was offering pre-owned Nook Color e-Readers for $74.99. So the large publishing chain will drop prices as followed: 16-gigabyte Nook tablet gets 20 percent off ($50), to a final total of $199, the eight gigabyte version gets a $20 cut to a final price of $179, and lastly, the Nook Color will also drop $20 to $149.
Ultimately, this move to cut the price on three of its Nook tablets, could be justified by the company being overshadowed by rumors of several new Kindles hitting the market soon. Tie that in with the recent success of Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, and you can see how the company has a tall order in regaining customer mind share. On the bright side, these price reductions are perfect for students going back to school.
Interested buyers should be able to snatch their choice of Nook tablet at the company’s website or in one of its brick in mortar locations.
So, who’s buying?
