While we’ve been working under the assumption that Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 would both be released on October 26th, a rumor out of ZDNet suggests this might not be the case. According to anonymous sources, Windows Phone 8 will be launched three days after Windows 8, at an event to be held on October 29th. The sources went on to suggest that the October 29th date is the official launch of the Windows Phone 8 software, but devices aren’t expected to reach store shelves until a few weeks after the launch, pegging the release of actual devices in mid-November.
Potential Windows Phone customers will have no shortage of devices to choose from, with Nokia rumored to be working on three devices, and Samsung unveiling the ATIV S at IFA. Mark your calendars for exactly two months from today, Windows Phone fans; your next generation of Windows Phone is almost here.
