GM to put Apple’s Siri in two of its smallest Chevrolet cars

General Motors is taking steps into making driving and talking on your phone much more safe. The automotive company said it has figured out a way to carry out Apple’s voice assistant service Siri to two of its smallest cars: the Chevrolet Spark and Sonic. This will allow drivers to safely do task such as calling, texting, checking sports scores, or even buy movie tickets (once Apple rolls out its iOS 6.1 update).

The Siri feature is being branded as “Siri in Eyes Free” mode within its MyLink infotainment system. Cristi Landy, Chevrolet’s marketing director for small cars said this today in a statement.

“‘Siri in Eyes Free mode’ will be available in the Spark and Sonic well before the luxury brands.” She added that the new feature is “safe, easy, reliable and portable connectivity is a top priority for our customers, and Siri complements MyLink’s existing capabilities.”

This move is much-needed in this time where automotive companies are behind the curve when it comes to catching up with technology. That being said, GM and Ford are leading in the transition into grabbing the attention of younger Millennial buyers. As time goes on, the level of quality will improve.
