RIM scores billing integration with more than 50 carriers ahead of the BlackBerry 10 release

Before the first BlackBerry 10 device(s) start shipping, RIM is doing everything it can to keep the momentum going. Just recently, they’ve informed the world that BlackBerry developers will be able to benefit from integrated carrier billing. The Canadian company has struck deals with more than 50 mobile operators around the world, 5 from its own backyard (Bell, Rogers, TELUS, Fido and Virgin Mobile). This should entice developers to jump on-board, and actually make some cash out of their apps and games. Mobile operators should also love this capability of BlackBerry 10 as they’re making more money along the way. In fact, according to RIM’s press release, average carrier revenues derived from apps [with carrier billing] increased between 100%-300% after launch. And with carriers and developers making more money, end users benefit as well, with more apps hitting the BlackBerry App World. The question is – whether that’s enough to compete with iOS and Android. I’m not so sure… What do you think?
