Staples stores in U.S. to begin carrying Apple products

More and more company announcements are being verified not in a long press release, but rather a single tweet in less than 140 characters. That remains true for some new products soon being sold at Staples. The retail chain’s Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources Regis Mulot tweeted “After Canada, #Apple products are coming to #Staples in US. Great news!” today before deleting it.

That didn’t stop some other executives at Staples to tweet about the news and even post pictures on Instagram. Field Services Manager Mike Goggin tweeted on his account @Goggin88 “Staples just finalized a deal to begin selling Apple products #finally.” Staples Strategic Accounts Coordinator Erin LaFlamme posted a picture of an apple pie on her Instagram with the caption “Thanks #Apple for letting #Staples sell you…oh, and for the delicious apple products to celebrate at work.”

Neither of those tweets were deleted as of the writing of this article, so it seems Staples should be getting its hands on some shiny Apple products in the near future. Whether a tweet can be considered a legitimate confirmation is arguable.

There’s no word on which Apple products Staples will be selling but it’s a win for Staples which traditionally sold mainly office supplies, some PCs, and PC accessories. Apple allowing Staples to sell its products might be an attempt to grab more market share in the workplace environment.
