Facebook fans can now get their hands on the new HTC First smartphone today for $99 from AT&T on a new two-year contract. The phone, which comes with the new Facebook Home interface pre-installed touts mid-range specs, coming with a 4.3-inch 720p display, a dual-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 5 MP rear facing camera. The device can be purchased off-contract from AT&T for $449.99.

Facebook Home is at the core of the device, functioning much like HTC’s Sense UI in the way that it provides the main user interface for users. Facebook Home functions as the default launcher, making sure that users are always immersed in the Facebook experience. The most interesting feature of Facebook Home, Chat Heads,is a messaging feature that keeps chat bubbles floating on the screen no matter what app is in use.

If Facebook’s not your bag, Facebook Home can be turned off, making the device a fairly vanilla, quasi-stock build of Android. Facebook Home has just rolled out on the Google Play Store for a few Android devices, such as the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III and the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

What do you think of the HTC First? Will you be one of the first to own the new Facebook phone?
