8 steps to follow when a phone drops in the toilet are:

  1. Get it out, fast
  2. Turn the phone off
  3. Take apart what you can
  4. Wipe off as much water as you can
  5. Dry it out
  6. Leave it to dry
  7. Resume your business

Two things you should NOT do:

Finally, you may consider getting one of water-proof devices, such as the HTC Butterfly, Sony Xperia Z, Motorola Defy Pro and Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2.
