Prepare yourselves to be hearing these and other courtroom commands out in public soon. If you ever owned a Nintendo DS, the sounds should bring back fond memories. But those of you wondering why your subway neighbor is screaming into their iPhone like they’re on an episode of Law & Order, allow me to enlighten you.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and its sequels were some of the most fun and innovative games for Nintendo’s dual screen handheld. The game was half courtroom sim and half visual novel, with a colorful and bizarre cast of characters. As the titular Phoenix Wright, you found yourself in court debating common crooks, murderers and eventually ghosts and other strange anime staples. The first game was an unlikely hit in the United States due to its anime style, strange and hilarious characters, and its innovative use of voice controls.
Now Capcom has announced remastered versions of the first 3 games in the series will be coming to iOS devices in full HD! They’ll be released on Thursday, May 30. I can’t recommend enough that iOS users grab this one. While a little steep compared to most iOS games ($6.99 a pop, or $16.99 for the whole trilogy), these are three deep games with a lot of content, not $.99 casual titles. It’s clear Capcom put some time into this, as the high res, redrawn images look like anime cells.
The photo below shows a shot from the original 2005 game and the new, buttery smooth HD remaster. The DS carts are pretty hard to come by these days, and you’ll spend a lot more on ebay hunting them down. iOS gamers, grab this trilogy now or you’re GUILTY….. of missing out on great batch of games.
