After Red Rice, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Purple Rice, which will the company’s very first tablet (as far as I know).
The rumor says it that the Chinese company will unveil the new product on August 16th, and at that time we may also see some other devices at display, including the powerful Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone and the Xiaomi TV.
It is said the Purple Rice will be an affordable tablet, costing just 999 Yuan, the amount that translates into some $160. Inside it will pack MediaTek’s MT8125 quad-core processor and cellular radio. As for the size, we’re talking about a product that’s comparable to Apple’s iPad Mini, which means this tablet will have an 8-inch screen.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi’s products are notorious for NOT being available outside of China. Few surrounding countries may get these devices, but those of us living in the West can forget about it… or try getting them through some importer…
