Apple to use a smallish flexible OLED displays for iWatch?

We’re still clueless when Apple will launch its highly-anticipated iWatch. That could happen this year, but it also could happen in 2014. We know that Tim Cook & Co. want to make sure any iDevice works flawlessly before it hits the store shelves. And that takes time.

According to new information obtained by the folks of Unwired View, Apple is testing few different screen sizes, ranging from 1.3 to 1.5-inches. That would make the iWatch rather small compared to new projects we’ve seen lately, including Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, putting it in the same “screen size group” with Pebble and MetaWatch.

Then again, the Cupertino-based company is notorious for not following trends, rather pushing its own ideas that more often than not prove popular. Take the newly launched iPhone 5s as an example – it kept iPhone 5’s screen size despite many media outlets (not users) demanding bigger display.

And when it comes to watches, we’re willing to sacrifice an inch of the screen for another day of use on a single charge.

The story goes on suggesting Apple will use flexible OLED screen, which could come from LG or Samsung. Given the choice, Tim Cook will go for everyone-but-Samsung, though you never know – perhaps LG can’t meet Apple’s demand.

We’ll keep watching for the iWatch saga and get back to you as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned…
