While everyone is no doubt extremely excited to hear about new features and enhancements in Android 1.5, I’m even more eager to actually see some proof, you know, screenshots and the like. That’s why this morning when I stumbled across these screens, I was extremely pleased.
As an example, you’ll notice that as a part of the new UI refresh, button sizes have been changed. Buttons in Android 1.1 has a minimum size of 44×48, while in Android 1.5 the minimum size is 24×48. This change highlights just one of the issues that developers will have to deal with moving forward. While the change certainly offers more flexibility, tweaks will need to be made to make apps work like butter in 1.5 in comparison to 1.1. Suppose that’s why Google has granted early access to the Android 1.5 SDK 🙂
