MetaWatch, the company that was formed by ex-Fossil engineers, is teaming-up with former Nokia and Vertu designer Frank Nuovo to launch a whole new series of fancy smart watches.
In their current forms, smart watches are pretty much made for geeks only. Most of these devices could use some extra polish to be adopted by a mainstream audience. MetaWatch may rock better materials [than competing products] in its Frame smart watch, but it lacks a color screen and few other details that could make it more appealing to the general public.
That’s why the Meta brand was born, a whole new line of smart watches made for fashion-conscious consumers. Devices in this series will feature premium metals, leather wristbands and quality craftsmanship, making the end product(s) fit nicely with a suit as well as casual clothing like jeans and a t-shirt.
According to Nuovo, the upcoming Meta watches will also come with a special strap pivot making sure the watch flows around one’s wrist better than any similar product out there. Moreover, it will be more comfortable to wear than the likes of Pebble and Galaxy Gear.
Finally, we should expect a new kind of display with higher resolution and, yes – colors.
We already like the MetaWatch Frame though we do realize it feels kinda outdated by today’s standards. That said, we can’t wait to test out the first device from the forthcoming Meta line-up the second it’s out. 😉
