Canadians that have been waiting patiently for Android… Your wait is almost over. Rogers Wireless has announced earlier today that the HTC Dream and HTC Magic Android handsets will be making their way north of the border on June 2nd! That’s less than a month away!
John Boynton, Senior VP and CMO at Rogers commented on the announcement:
“Who else but Rogers would be the first carrier to offer Canadians the first chance to join the mobile revolution with a choice of not one, but two, handsets powered by the Android platform? The HTC Magic offers a responsive touch screen and the HTC Dream delivers both a touch screen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Both devices offer outstanding wireless internet search capabilities and a full suite of applications that run two times faster on Canada’s fastest mobile network.”
Interestingly enough, it sure looks like Rogers will run with the ‘Dream’ and ‘Magic’ names instead of the ‘G1’ and ‘MyTouch 3G’ south of the border. Your call Rogers, your call.
Any way you slice it, this is big news for Canadians that have been longing to get their hands on Android.
