HP has announced the SlateBook, a 14-inch laptop that runs Android. You got that right, for some reason HP thinks someone would want to buy an Android device as big as this one.

It’s not a bad laptop specs wise, it’s just too big for “something” running Android, or so we think. The SlateBook comes with an NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip, 2GB of RAM, full HD screen, 64GB of internal storage and a battery that promises to deliver up to 9 hours of operation. All this comes in a thin body, measuring in at 16mm with a weight of 3.7 pounds. The price is set at $399 making it an everything but easy sell. The SlateBook won’t be available before August.

In the other news, HP also unveiled a slightly revamped version of its Chromebook 11. Unfortunately, this little laptop still boasts the same Samsung Exynos Duo chip rather than faster Octa variant. Or an Intel-made chip with Haswell technology. It has a bigger battery though (for up to 6 hours of operation), and price tag of $249.

The old-new Chromebook is available in white and turquoise, and honestly – we can’t suggest anyone to buy it. If you’re looking for a Chrome OS-based device, you’re better off grabbing something else. Pretty much any other 11-inch Chrome OS device is a better choice.
