Pentagon approves five Samsung KNOX devices

Samsung confirmed that five of its devices have been added to the Defense Information System Agency (DISA)’s Approved Products List (APL). The Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note PRO and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) with Android 4.4 KitKat and KNOX pre-installed are now officially ready to be used by the U.S. military, with Galaxy S5 likely joining-in soon.

According to the Korean company, the DISA approval came after “compliance with over hundred unique requirements, ranging from encryption to intrusion detection to key exchange to support for secure networking standards.”

That’s all nice, but the approval doesn’t directly translates into sales. Chances are Pentagon will eventually go for Samsung’s gear, and in the meantime it is also able to buy devices from Apple and BlackBerry, both of which got the same clearance before.
