The other day, Google announced its Android Auto platform and the first thing that came to mind is how it will sing along iPhones. There are plenty of families with members who have different phones, some of which may run iOS and some others – Android.

It’s only obvious car makers want to make everyone happy and allow different phones to connect to the built-in infotainment system. So it’s not surprising that some of these companies are already looking into ways to make their vehicles compatible with both Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto.

The first car makers announcing multi-platform solutions include Volvo, Honda and Hyundai.

Volvo will be the first with such vehicle out with its upcoming XC90 boasting the new Scalable Product Architecture that can tune into two of the most popular mobile platform. Honda on its end said its system will be able to automatically detect the type of phone you’re using and switch to an appropriate UI. Finally, it’s unclear what kind of technology Hyundai will use, but we’re certain it too will be easy to grasp.

When you think about it, car makers *must* make their vehicles compatible with leading mobile platforms. After you’ve spent thousands of dollars on a new car, it would be stupid that dealer forces you to change your mobile phone as well, right? What do you think?
